The Valley of Fassa as well as the neighbouring Valley of Fiemme offer a wide range of activities in sports and culture. The following is just a small excerpt.
Entering the slope is easy for cross-country addicts, you could start at the cross-country ski center in Canazei ...

In the nearer surrounding there are also some highslopes. One of my personal favourites is the slope of Passo di Lavazé at 1808m. You need to buy a ticket for the slope and you should not expect to be alone there, but the road is fun to go there (for experienced drivers) and the view is just breathtaking! You could see the Schlern as well as the Ortler mountain mass, Rosengarten and Latemar, that means you see some of the most famous parts of the Dolomites while doing your workout on cross-country-skis, with permanently changing views while going through the course.

In Val di Fassa there are several toboggan/sledging runs, some of them are illuminated by night. One run is located directly in Canazei, starting at the valley station of "Avisio". But in general in Trentino tobogganing is not so well-known like in the rest of the Euregio Tirol-Südtirol-Trentino.

As guests of Hotel Césa Tyrol we get some reduction on tickets for the aquatic center Dòlaondes in Canazei which opened in 2012 and is just 500m away from our hotel.
Cavalese, the capital city of 'Magnifica communità di Fiemme', the neighboring valley “Fleimstal” is worth a visit anyway, it has some nice old buildings (palazzi) and a really nice old church in a park with old trees. There is also a skiregion which is included in our skipass (Alpe Cermis).
Day trips to Bozen/Bolzano, the capital city of South Tyrol, as well as to Trient/Trento, the capital city of Trient are also possible by car. Both cities have a long lasting history and some well-known historical sites to visit. Trient is also bishops see, and the Council of Trent (1545–1563) was the most significant ecclesiastical assembly of the Counter-Reformation. Castello del Buonconsiglio in the city of Trient was the residence of the bishops until 1796 and is a visit worth too!
Unforgetable would also be a day trip to Cortina d'Ampezzo/Ampez, a ladin village which is famous for its Olympic Wintergames in 1956 (and together with Milan/Milano a second time in 2026), as well as some of the best known film clips of skiing in a James Bond film (For Your Eyes Only, 1981).
But also if you are not a skier or snowboarder, you could just go to Sellajoch by car and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view to the most catchy peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage THE DOLOMITES, such as Langkofel Group, Marmolata, Schlern, and the Sella Mountain Mass. It is also possible to meet your friends who ski or snowboard up there for a lunch break for example.
